Between Melbourne and Sidney, I took a shortcut away from the coast and passed through Australia's highest mountains, in New South Wales. While not as soaring as the Rockies, they were impressively rugged, and the eucalyptus forest cover gave them a deep blue haze. This ranch, with its charismatic pair of eucalyptus trees, is a less typical view of Australia, but one I love.
