Patagonia seems to combine landscapes in ways I never imagined. It has the dry skies and bare, red rocks of the American southwest, the snow-covered peaks of the Rockies, the granite spires of the Sierra Nevada, and yet it's also cris-crossed by aqua rivers and lakes. We saw this view on a quick evening hike on our first day in Patagonia, on a trail that overlooked a glacier-fed lake dotted with tiny icebergs. I heightened the colors to try to capture the surreal feeling of being there.
